- Make your working environment comfortable.
Observe proper posture when working and keep your computer monitor below eye level and at least 20 to 26 inches away from your eyes. Another way to prevent eye fatigue is to wear proper graded glasses.
- Wear sunglasses.
Not only are sunglasses cool, the coolness can actually prevent the sun’s UV rays from damaging your eyes. Extended exposure to UV rays has been linked to eye damage, including early onset of cataracts and macular degeneration.
- Use proper lighting when working.
Proper lighting is essential to make everything less straining for your eyes. Low intensity bulbs and fluorescent lights are ideal to use as lighting condition for your work area. In addition, adjust your computer’s brightness, text size and contrast that properly suit your vision and make you feel comfortable.
- Take a break and exercise.
Doctors’ advice is to look up and away from the computer for at least 15 minutes every couple of hours to relax the muscles inside the eyes. Especially if you need to do a lot of near work during the day.
- Annual Eye Check.
It is always good to have your eyes check at least once a year to make sure your eye health is optimum. You will also find out any onset of eye diseases earlier.
- Enjoy outdoor activities.
Let your eyes enjoy while you participate in outdoor activities like walking in greenery or cycling by the beach. Not only is it good for your health, but it can also help the eyes relax more by looking at far distances for a change.
