DIABETIC RETINOPATHY TREATMENT
Diabetic Retinopathy Treatments
Treatment for diabetic retinopathy depends on the stage of the disease. In early stages other than regular monitoring, treatment may not be required. Treatments available for proliferative diabetic retinopathy include:
1 Laser treatment/photocoagulation:
This stops the leakage of blood and fluid into the retina. To seal the leaks, a laser beam of light is used to create small burns in the areas of the retina with abnormal blood vessels.
This removes blood-filled vitreous and replaces it with a clear fluid to maintain the normal shape and health of the eye.
As most patients experience no symptoms or pain during the early stages, regular preventive check-ups and early diagnosis are important. Book an appointment for a comprehensive eye examination to determine if you have diabetic retinopathy.
