BEFORE SURGERY

Before Surgery

PRE-LASER EVALUATION

The pre-laser evaluation process to determine if you are suitable for laser vision correction will take approximately 3 hours.

If you are wearing soft contact lenses, please stop using them at least 3 days before the evaluation. If you are using hard contact lenses, please stop using them at least 14 days before the evaluation. This is to allow the cornea to assume its natural shape so that measurements can be done accurately, and the proper treatment is prescribed.

During the evaluation, we will dilate your eyes with eyedrops. This is to allow the Eye Surgeon to check the front and back of your eyes to ensure your eyes are healthy and suitable for surgery. Please note that after dilation, your near vision will be affected while far vision remains unaffected. If you wish to see near, you may remove your glasses. This effect will wear off in 4 to 6 hours.

PRE-LASER EVALUATION PROCESS

  • Biometry
  • Manifest refraction
  • Dry eye test
  • Dilation of eyes

PRE-SURGERY

If you are deemed suitable and have decided to undergo one of 3 types of laser vision correction: ReLEx® SMILE, wavefront bladeless LASIK, or wavefront PRK, we will schedule an appointment for your surgery.

You are expected to spend about 2 hours in the clinic with the out-patient procedure taking approximately 20 to 30 minutes for 2 eyes.

If you are including collagen cross-linking together with laser vision correction, please do not consume large amount of Vitamin C 1 week before the surgery.

For the same reasons as before the evaluation process – if you are wearing soft contact lenses, please stop using them at least 3 days before the surgery. If you are using hard contact lenses, please stop using them at least 14 days before the surgery.
